Why should I submit my site to 1000s of search engines and directories?

It all depends.  Unfortunately, it is entirely up to that particular search engine or directory.  Some sites are automated and will include your site almost instantly.  Some will send a “spider” to index your site within a few weeks.  Still others involve real people indexing each site that’s up for submission.
